Come and join us for a Christmas Market with a Difference!

The Ilsington Community Market has a wide variety of stalls selling traditional and modern handmade crafts, locally made jams and honey, jewellery, pretty gifts, delicious cakes, children’s clothes, toys, cards, framed prints, local meats and craft ale.

Come along and choose your Christmas presents and treats in a lovely festive atmosphere. There will also be a Christmas raffle, Christmas music and Pony rides as well as mince pies and mulled wine.

As usual the café offers a great place to catch up with friends and neighbours and enjoy delicious turkey baps, mince pies and hot drinks.

Any profits from the running of this market will be donated to a local Christmas Foodbank.

Ilsington Community Market is looking for a new person to organise future markets. There is a great support team available to anyone who would like to take on this role. If you are interested, or would like further information, please contact Su.

If you would like a stall at the market, please contact Su on 01364 661318.

Hope to see you all there!

Brand New Till System

Our new till system is now up and running. The changeover has been smooth and the Volunteer training has gone very well. There is bound to be a few teething troubles, but we hope you will enjoy using this new piece of technology. It will make managing our stock and our accounts much easier. Plus, there are pretty pictures!

Ilsington Community Market

Saturday 8 October 2016

1 – 4pm at Ilsington Village Hall

Come and join us for a Harvest Market with a Difference!

The Community Market is now a regular event at the Village Hall enabling us to buy locally produced food and crafts……and all right on your doorstep!

A wide variety of stalls will be selling traditional and modern handmade crafts and gifts and locally produced meat, jams, ale and honey. The perfect place to buy presents for family, friends, or even yourself!

This market has a harvest theme so come along and try your hand at making your own apple juice! We will have a traditional basket apple press available to turn your surplus apples into juice for drinking or making into cider. Please bring along a suitable container to carry your juice home in. Pasteurised apple juice will be available on the day so everyone can have a taste.

As usual the café offers a great place to catch up with friends and neighbours and enjoy delicious bacon baps, cakes and hot drinks.

The announcement of the 2016 Community Shop Award Beneficiaries will be made at the market. Come along and find out which local charity has been given a helping hand from your Community Shop!

A community table is available if you have a few surplus vegetables, jams or plants to sell. Just bring along your priced items and we will sell them for you!

If you would like a stall at the market, please contact Su on 01364 661318.

Hope to see you all there!

Hello Helen!

helen

We would like to introduce our new shop manager, Helen Tate. Helen moved to Ilsington in 2003 and has been a customer at the shop since it opened. We know that the shop will be in safe hands with Helen and hope you will all give her a warm welcome when she begins on 1st September.

Bowling & BBQ Fun Day!

Another great Volunteer Fun Day with delicious food and a chance to have a game of bowls.

We like to look after our volunteers at the shop and run regular events to bring everyone together to say thank you for all your hard work. We thought that August would guarantee a sunny day, but as always, the Dartmoor weather had other ideas!

Regardless, everyone had a smashing afternoon and it gave us all a chance to see Emma again and to give her some super Farewell presents from the Community and from the Committee.

Goodbye Emma

After three wonderful years, Emma, our shop manager has decided to move to pastures new. She hasn’t moved far, mind you, only to Stover School where she will begin a new job.

We are very sad to see her go but we know that we will still see her regularly as a customer.

On Emma’s last day, we couldn’t let her leave without saying goodbye to some of the community she has served over the years. A surprise leaving party in the shop seemed ideal and a lovely photo collage created by Ruth made it very special.

We all wish her love and luck and hope that she and Katy settle into their new surroundings very soon.

Ilsington Community Market

Saturday 22 June 2016

1 – 4pm at Ilsington Village Hall

Come and join us for a Summer Market with a Difference!

The Community Market is now a regular event at the Village Hall enabling us to buy locally produced food and crafts……and all right on your doorstep!

This market is full of traditional and modern handmade crafts and gifts – perfect presents for family, friends or even yourself!

This month we are organising a FREE SEED & SEEDLING SWAP. Just bring along any spare seedlings that you have and you will be able to swap them for others. Local seedlings grow hardy plants that flourish in our Dartmoor climate! If you don’t have any seedlings to swap, then you can buy some for a small donation.

There will be a RAFFLE and PONY RIDES too!

As usual the café offers a great place to catch up with friends and neighbours and enjoy delicious bacon baps, cream teas and hot drinks.

A community table is available if you have a few surplus vegetables, jams or plants to sell. Just bring along your priced items and we will sell them for you!

Any profits from this market will be donated to Hannah’s (The Dame Hannah Rogers Charity).

If you would like a stall at the market, please contact Su on 01364 661318.

Hope to see you all there!

A Community In Mourning

It is with a heavy heart that we have to report that Brian Major has sadly passed away. Although he had been poorly for a long time, it is still a huge shock to everyone and he will be greatly missed.

Brian has been a member of the Ilsington Village Shop Community from the very start – since before it was even a shop! Indeed, he designed the shop and was on site during its build to make sure that Neil and Jane’s boys were doing things right. And since it’s opening, both he and Barbara have been key members of both the committee and the family of volunteers that keep this wonderful shop running so smoothly.

Many of you will remember his cheery face and his gentle humour as well as his wonderful artistic creations that still grace our shop walls. He leaves a huge hole in this community and our love and support go to Barbara at this time.

3 Devon Life article May 2016

Carla Faulkner kindly created an article about our shop and submitted it to the Devon Life magazine who published it in the May 2016 issue. It’s a lovely piece that perfectly captures all the best bits of our little shop. Pick up your copy soon!
